Badges

A name badge will be provided with your registration documents upon arrival at the Forum Welcome Desk. The wearing of this badge is compulsory both inside the conference rooms and sessions and at all events organised within the context of the Forum.

Lunch and Coffee breaks

Lunches will be served in the Forum’s lunch area and coffee breaks will be served within the exhibition hall.

Transportation

The organisers will provide participants with transportation from the official Forum hotels to/from the congress venue and the social events. A timetablewill be published on the Forum web site in early September.

Dress code

The dress code for the various evening events is business attire. Local dress code may differ from country to country. To respect local customs, Forum participants should take into consideration that revealing clothes can be perceived negatively in Qatar.
The Qatari Tourism office advises men and women to dress modestly and to avoid body exposure.

 

Travel Tips

Airport

Doha International Airport is only 8 km from the city centre. There is a range of options for getting into the city, when the traffic is good you can get almost anywhere in the city within fifteen minutes.

  • A taxi station can be found in the front of the hotel
  • Some hotels offer either a courtesy pickup or a shuttle bus

The weekend is Friday and Saturday in Qatar.

Office Hours:

  • Sunday / Thursday 8:00am-5:30pm or 7:30am-12:00pm and 3:30pm-7:30pm

Shop Hours:

  • Saturday / Thursday 8:30am-12:30pm and 4:00pm-9:00pm
  • If they are open on Fridays, hours are usually 4:00pm-8:00pm

Qatari Riyal (QAR), which is divided into 100 Dirham.

Electricity

Electricity is 220-240v with a frequency of 50 Hertz.
British standard plugs are used.

City Transportation

Taxis are the most common means of transportation used by foreigners in Qatar, the most economical method is the white and orange taxis.

Taxes

Qatar has no system of sales tax or value added tax. However, a service tax of 10% and government levy of 5% are applicable on restaurant and hotel bills.

Telephone

The international dialing code for Qatar is 974. The code for dialing internationally from Qatar is 00.

Tipping

A service charge of 10% is usually added to hotel and restaurant bills, in which case tipping is not necessary. However, if there is no service charge a 10% tip is appreciated. Taxi drivers do not expect a tip, but it is good to round off the amount due.

Local time is GMT/UTC +3. If it is 2:00pm in Doha at the time of the Forum, it will be:

• London: 12:00pm
• Paris: 1:00pm
• New Delhi: 4:30pm
• Seoul: 8:00pm

Weather

Qatar enjoys sunshine just about everyday of the year. Average summer temperature: 38°C to 42°C (day)/18°C (night). Average humidity rate: 90%

VISA

All participants, exhibitors and visitors are reminded that a visa may be required for foreign citizens entering Qatar and that they should apply for a visa at their local Qatari consulate or embassy*. It is recommended that you plan your travel in advance and that you apply for your visa early

Should you need an official invitation letter for visa application purposes, you may contact the Organising Secretariat who will be able to assist you with it.
No exhibition and registration fee refunds will be issued for cancellation or non-attendance due to failure to obtain a visa.

* A visa can be obtained on arrival at the airport for the residents of 33 countries (Andorra, Australia, Belgium, Brunei, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK, USA, and Vatican City). This arrival visa is available at a cost of 100 riyals (approximately US $27). Information valid at date of printing. Subject to changes. Please consult your local Qatari Embassy or your own government travel information for the up-to-date regulations.

For assistance on visa application and issue, you may contact your hotel, your travel agent or tour company for conditions and costs. Most hotels in Doha can provide this service at a fee.
