Tours Programme

Please kindly note that onsite tours sales will only be possible upon availabilty.

A special tours programme has been set up by the Organisers. The appointed official tours agency is Ovation Arabia. They will be at your service to provide assistance with tours, meet and greet services and airport transfers throughout your stay in Doha.

TOURS

The proposed tours are available from Monday, 26^th September to Friday, 30th September (see details for each tour) and will give you the opportunity to discover the wonders of Doha and its surroundings. From a visit of Qatari cultural heritage sites to the exploration of the traditional souks, from the discovery of the city of Doha to an unforgettable trip in the dunes. These tours are organised exclusively for Forum attendees and spouses. Tours will depart from/return to the Sheraton Resort.

DUNES DISCOVERY TOUR

You can’t visit Qatar without experiencing the breathtaking beauty of the desert. This trip allows you to capture the stunning panoramic views of spectacular sand dunes and the inland sea, while enjoying the excitement of a roller coaster ride. This trip gives you the thrill of ‘dune bashing’ – zooming over towering dunes with our experienced drivers, followed by time to relax watching the Inland Sea. The inland sea is one of Qatar's natural treasures, it is a large inlet where the sea surges in a narrow channel that divides Qatar from Saudi Arabia, and then curves creating a shallow tidal lake. This natural attraction can only be reached off-road by four wheel drive vehicle passing through the mysterious desert and impressive desert dunes.
The tour is inclusive of the following:

• Transportation by luxury air conditioned 4-WD vehicle, either Nissan Patrol or Toyota Land Cruiser, from pick up place to the desert and back, noting that our 4-WD vehicles are licensed to carry 5 passengers excluding the driver
• Dunes driving and dunes bashing in the desert
• A couple of stops for photograph
• A visit to the famous Inland Sea area near to Saudi Arabia borders
• Refreshments: Mineral water

DOHA CITY TOUR

 Visit to the bustling Old Souq or Souq Waqif, the most traditional of the area's souqs. The Old Souq has evolved from its origins as a weekend market used by the Bedouins into a maze of narrow alleyways filled with small shops selling a variety of goods, and renovated to create the same rustic look that prevailed a century ago. The Coach then takes you to a panoramic drive of the Sea Front Corniche Promenade/ West Bay District. Drive to the Doha Corniche, a curving, picturesque stretch of shoreline. Here, you will find colorful flowerbeds, tall palms, old and new buildings, parklands, hotels and landmark architecture.  After a photo stop and the drive thru Doha Corniche we proceed to Sports City (Khalifa International Stadium & ASPIRE Sports Academy) which boasts some of the world's finest sport stadia and venues offering a unique sport, sports medicine, research and education destination for the international sports industry. After a brief stop at the Sports City guests proceed to The Pearl Qatar / Porto Arabia Boardwalk & Marina The Pearl-Qatar offers unique, true freehold investment opportunities in a safe, relaxed, friendly and exclusive environment. This is the Middle East's most glamorous address where Pearlesque names, crafted from an intriguing mix of Italian, French, Spanish and Arabic, summon up the charm of the old world, and the spirit of the new.

CULTURAL TOUR

Depart the Hotel and drive to the 53,820-square-foot private museum belonging to Royal Family member Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani. During your guided tour, you will view an extensive collection of more than 3,000 Arabian and Islamic artifacts, weapons, Bedouin jewelry, traditional doors, manuscripts, fossils, carpets, embroideries, antique furniture, and books. The museum also features a comprehensive collection of historic cars, including a 19^th century steam-powered vehicle. The Coach then takes you to Al Rayyan area of Qatar, where the Racing & Equestrian Club (REC) is situated, and has been the centre of equestrian activity for generations, with a basic racecourse on the site from as early as the 1960's. After a stroll at the Equestrian Club and going through the race course visit Cultural Village KATARA, a new project, located on the beach and occupying an area of more than 1,000,000 square meters thus being an integrated cultural landmark in Qatar with randomly arranged various buildings and facilities in a way to feel like an old traditional Qatari alley (Al Fareej). The Project comprises of Cultural Section elements such as Amphiteather, Opera Hall, Indoor Theaters, Multi Purpose Hall, Media Center, Falconry Museum, etc...Being  a project on the beach, it is having its own Coast Line/the Sea-front and hosts on its premises variety of International Cafes & Restaurants.

SOUK WAQIF TOUR

Drive to the Doha Corniche, a curving, picturesque stretch of shoreline. Here, you will find colorful flowerbeds, tall palms, old and new buildings, parklands, hotels, and landmark architecture. Along the way, you will pass by the Dhow Harbor, named after the Arabic-styled boats that can be seen in the calm waters of the bay. Visit to the bustling Old Souq or Souq Waqif, the most traditional of the area’s souqs. The Old Souq has evolved from its origins as a weekend market used by the Bedouins into a maze of narrow alleyways filled with small shops selling a variety of goods, and renovated to create the same rustic look that prevailed a century ago. It is also home to dozens of restaurants serving cuisines as well as Shisha lounges.
The tour is inclusive of the following:

• Transportation by latest model vehicle/s or bus/es / coach/es
• Tour Guiding by professional English-speaking Tour Guide/s
• Bottle of Mineral water per person on the vehicle/s
• 3 course Set Menu Lunch at AlTawash Restaurant inclusive of the following per person:

Airport transfers

Ovation Arabia offers different options of Meet and Greet services at the airport. Services include assistance with passport and visa formalities.

Confirmation

Once your booking request is received, you will receive an email confirmation from wlpgas2011tours@mci-group.com. You will receive a confirmation e-mail from Ovation Arabia summarising your bookings.

Payment

• Credit Card Payment: Ovation Arabia will debit your credit card via secure online transaction on your online registration.

• Bank Transfer: Ovation Arabia will send you an invoice upon filling up your online registration form. The tours will be confirmed only on the receipt of the payments.

Booking Conditions

• Rates shown are in US $ per person.

• Tours are provided on air conditioned vehicles with an English speaking guide.

• Rates include: - Local and service taxes; - Meals mentioned in the corresponding programme; - Entrance tickets.

• Rates do not include: - Any personal expense; - Meals not mentioned in the programme.

Cancellation Policy

• Tours’ reservation modifications or cancellation must be sent to Ovation Arabia via email at the following address, wlpgas2011tours@mci-group.com.

• Cancellation policy: Once the tour or transfer confirmation email has been received, the service is booked. However, cancellations can be made without charge before September, 17th 2011. Past this date, full payment will be charged. The Organisers reserve the right to cancel tours if the minimum number of participants is not met.
