The World LP Gas Forum in Doha
The World LP Gas Association (WLPGA) is the authoritative voice of the global LP Gas industry representing all sectors of the industry. WLPGA’s primary aim is to add value to the sector through driving premium demand for LP Gas, while promoting compliance to good business and safety practices. It brings together private and public companies involved in one, several, or all activities of the industry, develops partnerships with international organisations and implements projects on local and global scales. WLPGA was established in 1987 and granted Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council in 1989.
As the authoritative, global voice for LP Gas, WLPGA promotes the use of LP Gas globally to foster a cleaner, healthier and more prosperous world. WLPGA adheres to the following mission:
- Demonstrate the benefits of LP Gas and inform, educate and influence all stakeholders
- Support the development of LP Gas markets
- Promote compliance with standards, good business and safety practices
- Identify innovation and facilitate knowledge transfer
INDUSTRY COUNCIL
Large member companies initiated the creation of an Industry Council and inaugurated it into the framework of WLPGA in 1996. This Council provides a platform for international LP Gas organisations to identify and address issues pertinent to the industry on a global scale. It is also the arena for the development of strategies and to devise and develop global industry projects. Industry Council members’ decisions and actions are the catalyst to increase the worldwide recognition and use of LP Gas. They also make recommendations to the WLPGA Board of Directors.
INDUSTRY NETWORKS: GAIN, GLOTEC AND CCWG
Key industry networks have been created by the Industry Council and the Board to focus attention on growing segments of our industry. The first is the Global Autogas Industry Network (GAIN) that promotes the use of Autogas worldwide. The second is the Global Technology Network (GLOTEC) that encourages an exchange of technological innovation within the industry. The third is the Climate Change Working Group (CCWG), that works to educate, inform and represent the industry within the context of the global climate change debate. These networks are also dedicated to expanding the market, increasing the awareness of LP Gas and promoting the use of it. GAIN, GLOTEC and the CCWG forge and coordinate relationships with all industry stakeholders.
